Coffee Tips For Home Brewing
Coffee tips for home brewing is in high demand. With more and more people cutting out the daily trips to the local cafes home brewing is rising in popularity. Brewing at home saves, but most people feel that they have to sacrifice the great taste that they get from local shops. The truth is with these few tips and a willingness to learn home brewed coffee can be just as good if not better than some brewed at a café.
1. Bean Quality/type - I have found that most major brands sell quality beans. Whole bean in a pre-sealed bag last the longest. There are so many great brands out there. So I advise you to not only buy your favorite, but also try something new every once in a while.
2. Storage - Beans should be stored in an airtight container in order to prolong its life. The container should be kept in a cool dry place. Do not store the beans you use daily in freezer. It is okay to store bulk beans in the freezer for longer periods of time, but know that each time you remove them it creates water crystals on the beans. This can affect the over all quality of your brew.
3. Water - One of the most over looked things while brewing at home is the water that is used. In all reality this is one of the biggest contributors to a good cup of joe. Always make sure you filtered what. The chemicals and minerals in tap water will totally change the flavor profile.
4. Grind/Measure - If at all possible grind your beans fresh for each pot. Make sure that you have the proper grind for your brewing method. The proper ration of ginds to water really comes down to how you prefer your morning brew. The industry standard is 6 ounces of water to one scoop of grinds (2 tablespoons). From there you can add more for a stronger brew or less for a lighter flavor.
Brewing at home may take a little practice, but in time you will find that you can make a pretty good cup of joe. And save money at the same time.
